Minase Mai (水瀬瀬舞)The heroine for the first OVA. A second year high school student. The school's game club invites her into the club, through Tomonari. She enters 'The World' without any gaming experience whatsoever. While playing, both Mai and Tonomari fall unconcious in the real world, and only she recovers. |
Aihara Yuki (相原由紀)Yuki is the heroine of the second OVA. A private girl student who lives in Yokohama. On her way to deliver information to Tokuoka regarding the situation of "The World", she gets trapped within a building, unable to contact the outside. Her online name is 'yukichin'. |
Tohno Kyoko (遠野京子)Kyoko is the heroine of the third OVA. As an acquaintance of Tokuoka, she helps out in search for answers concerning the strange events occuring within The World. |
Tokuoka Junichirou (徳岡純一郎)Junichirou meets Mai, knowing her friend has fell into a coma from playing 'The World', and entices her to help him search for the answers he seeks. |
Kasumi Tomonari (香住智成)Tomonari falls into a coma from playing the online game "The World" with Mai. His online name is "SIEG". |

.hack (pronounced as dot-hack) is Bandai's most major project yet. It consists of an anime TV series, comic, exclusive PS2 game and OVA done by a powerful team, composed of Kazunori Ito, Kouichi Mashimo and Yoshiyuki Sadamoto.
