Kite is invited into the huge mass multiplayer online role playing game of "The World" by his classmate, Orca. While playing, the two encounter a mysterious monster they are unable to defeat. Orca falls in battle in the game... and in the real world. Orca is found unconcious and in a coma for unknown reasons. And so, Kite's determination in search for the cause of his friend's collapse begins...

.hack (pronounced as dot-hack) is Bandai's most major project yet. It consists of an anime TV series, comic, exclusive PS2 game and OVA done by a powerful team, composed of Kazunori Ito, Kouichi Mashimo and Yoshiyuki Sadamoto.
