Serialized in the monthly game magazine, COMPTIQ, called ".hack//The Legend of the Twilight Bracelet" or more commonly known as '.hack//dusk' or '.hack//udeden' (.hack//黄昏の腕輪伝説) ((twilight and dusk being interchangeable)). The story begins 4 years after the legendary .hackers (dot hackers) Kite and Blackrose were executed from the game. The characters were restricted from use and were rendered inoperative.
Two twins, Rena and Shuugo, miraculously win a character champaign prize to use the same character models as the legendary .hackers. Upon logging on to The World, Shuugo is beaten by a high level monster which appeared unexpectedly in a newbie area. He revived and is entrusted "Kite's bracelet" from a enigmatic girl by the name of Aura to save The World from destruction once again.

.hack (pronounced as dot-hack) is Bandai's most major project yet. It consists of an anime TV series, comic, exclusive PS2 game and OVA done by a powerful team, composed of Kazunori Ito, Kouichi Mashimo and Yoshiyuki Sadamoto.
